Sawsan Al-Ajjouri
Sawsan Al-Ajjouri is a Palestinian writer from northern Gaza, displaced for over a year after losing her home to the genocide. She studied English literature at Al-Aqsa University, where she found her deepest voice flows in Arabic. Her essay “I Remembered Beirut” mourned Beirut, her three-year-old niece martyred in October 2023. She writes letters to herself across time—between the Sawsan who lived before and the Sawsan surviving now—hoping to one day read them back home, watching the sunset from her window, with a heart at peace.
