Subrat has been associated with the Film Society of Bhubaneswar since 2004. Under his leadership, FSB has been organizing a documentary festival every September since 2018 and a week-long feature film festival every January. Subrat has served as a Juror at the Kolkata and Bangalore International Film Festivals. He writes a regular column on cinema for Orissa Post.
