Job Title: Production Intern
Duration: 6 months commitment, paid position
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-Production:
- Assist in researching podcast episode/interview topics and content.
- Coordinate with guests and schedule recording sessions.
- Assist in preparing scripts, outlines, and questions for episodes.
- Production:
- Take detailed notes during recordings for editing purposes.
- Post-Production:
- Edit and mix podcast episodes using audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition). (Optional)
- Add music, sound effects, and other audio elements as needed. (Optional)
- Assist in creating show notes and episode descriptions.
- Ensure final audio files are polished and ready for distribution.
- Marketing and Distribution:
- Assist in uploading and distributing episodes to podcast platforms (e.g., Apple Podcasts, Spotify).
- Assist the communications director with promotional materials for social media and other channels.
- General Support:
- Participate in team meetings
- Assist in maintaining podcast files and archives.
- Perform other tasks as needed to support the podcast production team.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in [relevant field, e.g., Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, etc.].
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition) and familiarity with recording equipment. (optional)
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Title: Copy Editor
Duration: One year contract, renewable, starting September
Location: Remote
Job type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities:
- Editing and copy-editing stories
- Maintaining an evolving and current pipeline of story ideas for Polis’s ongoing research projects as well as our monthly long forms
- Ideating with our researchers on articles and newsletters for their research projects
- Importantly, as a member of the editorial team, to be a keen observer and fast learner of authoritarian politics, and its impact on culture and society, in India particularly and globally generally
Qualifications:
- Candidates should have between two to four years of editing experience, preferably in journalism and book publishing.
- Candidates should be detail oriented, with strong organisational skills. They should be able to work independently as well as a part of a team.
- They should also have demonstrated an editorial instinct for news and an interest in working with writers from diverse backgrounds. The applicant should demonstrate top-notch editing and language skills, sound judgement and an enthusiasm for The Polis Project’s motto of research, reportage and resistance.
- The Polis team is spread across countries, and fully remote. Applicants must be responsive during working hours and available for weekly calls.
- While we strive to ensure a five-day week, the position may require night, holiday, and weekend work. This is a full-time position.
