Book Salon with Michael Busch – 14 | Banu Subramaniam

The Polis Project is excited to welcome the University of Massachusetts, Amherst’s Banu Subramaniam to our Virtual Book Salon. On Thursday, January 7 at 10:30am EST/9:00pm IST she will join us to discuss her recent book, Holy Science: The Biopolitics of Hindu Nationalism (University of Washington Press). Holy Science traces the ways in which contemporary Hindu nationalism reinvents the past in its narratives of modern technologies, interrogates the inextricable and constantly evolving relationship between science and religion, and examines the ways in which these stories and dynamics are used by Hindu nationalists to promote a politics of racism, misogyny, and economic exclusion.

We will talk about all of this, and more. The conversation will stream live and simultaneously on the Polis Project Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook accounts.
