Book Salon with Michael Busch – 15 | Annette Joseph-Gabriel

The Polis Project is excited to welcome the University of Michigan’s Annette Joseph-Gabriel to our Virtual Book Salon. On Thursday, January 28 she will join us to discuss her new book, Reimagining Liberation: How Black Women Transformed Citizenship in the French Empire (University of Illinois Press). Based on extensive archival research and original textual analysis, Joseph-Gabriel paints the portraits of seven influential women who approached decolonial citizenship in distinct and sometimes paradoxical ways and helped bolster a transnational liberation movement across the French Empire and its postcolonial states.

We will talk about all of this and more. The conversation will stream live and simultaneously on the Polis Project Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook accounts.
