Book Salon with Michael Busch – 16 | Aliyah Khan

The Polis Project is excited to welcome the University of Michigan’s Aliyah Khan to our Virtual Book Salon. On Thursday, February 4 she will join us to discuss her new book, Far from Mecca: Globalizing the Muslim Caribbean (Rutgers University Press). Based on critical literary analysis and original interviews, Khan traces the historical connections and continuities between Caribbean cultural production and its different Muslim populations, and demonstrates that the figure of the Caribbean Muslim complicates, colors, and contextualizes the national narratives of the region’s states.

We will talk about all of this, and more. The conversation will stream live and simultaneously on the Polis Project Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook accounts.
